Sayama

Due to local soil, farmers in Sayama hills area had struggle to make rice in the middle century therefore they started tea plantation in the beginning of 19th century and their tea became very popular in Edo metropolitan city which was renamed as Tokyo during modernization period

After Japan modernization, they started export to US with Sayama tea brand. They roasted tea leaf before packing to keep tea quality during long transportation to US. This method was called as Sayama Hiire and  crispy flavor made by it became unique point of Sayama tea.

In addition, there is the local tea laboratory which is making many original local cultivars for local tea farms so that they are using several unique cultivars today.

Ho-shi En

Ho-shi En is located in Kaneko area which is the central of Sayama tea farm area and they are mainly producing local origin cultivars.

Their tea has elegant flavor even before filling hot water so that we recommend enjoy leaf flavor before filling hot water.
